Kerinci Lake - Jambi

Kerinci Lake is located at the foot of the Raja Mountain,Kerinci Lake is the largest lake in Kerinci district. Lake area is approximately 5000 square meters with a height of 783 meters above sea level. The scenery around the lake is so captivating. The eyes will not be tired of seeing the expanse of clear water a graceful backdrop of mountain ranges. In the middle of the lake looks as fishing boats are sailing the calm water surface, where the lives of many species of fish caught by local society.

In the villages around the lake, there are a many of carved stone megaliths supposedly living human heritage thousands years ago. The presence of stone carving shows that the area around Lake Kerinci is an area that once inhabited ancient human. In the Lake Kerinci is held a Lake Kerinci festival every year which display a variety of community arts attractions in Jambi. The purpose of this festival is to give treats to the tourists who come to visit.

Lake Kerinci is located in the Danau Kerinci and Keliling danau, Kerinci District, Jambi Province, Indonesia, To reach the location can be reached by landline with several alternatives:

1. Journey from the city of Jambi to the Sungai Penuh. about 500 km and takes about 10 hours. The trip can be done with ground vehicles in the form of public transportation, car rental or private car.

2. journey from the city of Padang to Tapan then continue to Sungai Penuh with 278 km distance. The journey taken for about 7 hours. The trip can be done with public transportation, car rental or private car.

3. trip from Padang to Muaralabuh, then the trip continued to Kersik Tuo. The distance from the city of Padang to a location about 211 km long journey of approximately 5-6 hours. The trip can be done with ground vehicles in the form of public transportation, car rental or private car.

There are currently no star-class hotels in Kerinci until now, but in the town of Sungai Penuh, the capital of Kerinci regency, there are many jasmine class hotels , during in the Kerinci you can taste Payo Rice, Semah Fish , Dendeng Beteko, Tojin Nuts, Lemang and Orange Pelompek , or drinking Kerinci coffee and Kayu Aro Tea.

LAKE Kerinci covers an area of 4,200 ha. This lake is sorrounded by mountains and hills. We can see the lake from several point of view in the central Kerinci such as Pesanggrahan where we can see the lake from above,Tanjung Hatta, Seleman Village in which we can see Laheik House (traditional house of Kerinci) and Pulau Tengah Village where we can see Dolmen Batu Raja and Mesjid Keramat Pulau Tengah. Around the lake we can also find several carved stones,the archeological remains of Megalithic Age. Every year there is a big celebrtion in the area of the lake Kerinci Recreational Park called Lake Kerinci Festival(Festival Masyarakat Peduli Danau kerinci). The festival first held in 1999, this week-long cultural event celebrates the lake's importance as a vital source of fish and livelihood for opportunity to see many kinds of traditional Kerinci dance and hear local music. During the festival, the park grounds are also littered by a sea and stalls selling local foods, fruits and snack items as well as souvenirs and other goods.
